At no point are we going to hear an unpaid statement, by someone who knows what they are talking about, and doesn't have some interest.
But if you have a gun and one paid person says shooting it against your head won't kill you. And another paid person says it will. We could always not pull the trigger since we are in a state of non-clarity. That's probably a situation where you want to slow down.
But if you want to slow down AI, what you do is raise interest rates, instead of making it a captured institution of government which ends up being symmetric. Sowing AI and government together into a worse franken-monster isn't going to help.
