It would be good if there were more FLOSS forum options (with abundant support) out there.
I'd love to see something like a myPHP bulletin board that can also wear a Reddit-type skin to look like this kind of forum, or other layouts, depending on what the user wants.
Imagine: user preferences in all things, rather than leaving it up to admins and such.
Are you sure you are talking about voat.co? I clearly remember how I backed up my posts on archive.is when they warned about upcoming shut down, those were surely not deleted.

Did it get rid of the exploits of Voat that took it down?
Who knows... But from my memories Voat owner got tired with maintaining it or something, I don't remember exploits being part of the conversation.
All I know is he didn't back up the database, and somehow it got deleted.

How much does it even cost?
Seems ridiculous.
Unless you have to supervise it 24/7 as I'd imagine your might for bad actors, etc. In which case rent, food, utilities, etc. aren't free.
